Will scooters become the next iPhone?

Did you know that Steve Jobs once said the Segway would be “as big a deal as the PC”?

The Segway, invented by Dean Kamen (right) never caught on. The main complaints were that it was too expensive and the “dork factor,” to quote former Segway CEO Roger Brown in a CNN interview. Brown sold the company to a Chinese company in 2015.

Since selling the company Segway has added scooters to its line, selling ten times more scooters in the last few years than actual Segways ever.

Despite some regrets Brown praises the scooter revolution saying “Anyone standing on something that's powered by electricity and a computer is a Segway descendant.“
